I decided to write a guide about setting up Hearthranger with silverfish and custom files because over time the information about these topics got scattered more and more over the forum.
Most stuff in this post is already somewhere on the forum, I just hope this will give our new members less headache. Please note: This guide is based on playing with silverfish AI and custom files

Installing Hearthranger (HR)

Installing the latest version of Sepefeets silverfish

Setting up Hearthranger for the use of silverfish

Working with custom mulligan, combo and settings files

Adept settings.txt for your PC

How to make combo's in _combo.txt

Using test.txt to simulate a board and determine the values for your combo’s

FAQ

Q: What Deckrules should I use in Hearthranger?
A: Leave it to default, Silverfish ignores this setting

Q: Why isn’t the bot conceding when I set it up in Hearthranger
A: Silverfish ignores the concede options in Hearthranger. To concede with Silverfish set Concedonbadboard = true. In the settings.txt (not recommend)

is the silverfish.exe supposed to say that it can't find _combo.txt/_mulligan.txt

Yes, if you don't use any custom mulligan or combo silverfish will give you that message but it then use uses the default mulligan and combo which is fine.

However, if you did try to setup a custom mulligan and combo, then something went wrong and you should check the spelling of the files again and make sure they are in the silverfish folder.

Ya I copied your zoolock combo and mulligan, put them in the ASC data folder with the right spelling. But it still says file can't be found. Only setting is being found

This indicates you are not using the ASC-tool correctly. In your case

- make a NEW folder inside Data/Warlock folder called "Dre Zoo" or something
- make the files _mulligan.txt settings.txt and an empty _combo.txt and put them in this folder

- Start the bot USING the ASC tool to do so
- Open the tool (make sure the silverfish and hearthranger maps are set (see guide))
- Click the warlock marker, and use the dropdown menu underneath it to select the map u created "Dre Zoo"
- then click ok, u will get confirmation and hearthranger and the dos window will open.
- Now that dos window SHOULD say: read _mulligan.txt...read _combo.txt.

In any other case u are doing something wrong. Please try again. If you know what you did wrong please say so so i can make the guide better.

Well whoops, found the cause I wasn't supposed to name it "_combo.txt", just "_combo" was fine. Well let's hope your zoolock can get me to rank 5 and thanks so much for the guide really helped me out!!

Ah yeah, _combo.txt is the official filename + the extention. Naming the extention is important because it shows its not done by MS Word or such, but with notepad. However it should work when you save it as "_combo.txt" in notepad. The filename that shows up in your explorer is indeed "_combo" unless you turn on "show file extentions" in Windows options.

Long story short: Glad you could fix it

Something is probably wrong in your code, if you paste the exact lines he can't read I will tell what is wrong about it

Hm think you are doing something else wrong. Please follow the instructions in my guide carefuly - and set this up using the ACS-tool - this combo and mulligan are in Blackoak's file and they must work without problems.

@Dre

Nice write-up, looks like you put in quite a bit of time and effort on that. Any thoughts on including Ranger Recovery for those that want to automatically start HR with the task scheduler? Jammo2k5 has a nice guide in his first post on how to do it, but I don't know how many people know just how handy it is :)

Those files are found in BlackOak's data set (see part, setting up files with ACS), but people post them aswell when they have made a deck and files which work for them, i.e. in the project Nextgen tread
